" In 1843, he [John's father Robert Campbell] married Margaret Mack,
eldest daughter of Robert and Margaret (McDonald) Mack, of East Wheatfield
township...."

EUPHEMIA BERNETTA McDONALD
Wife of John Hargnett, married 1854. "...daughter of James and Catherine
Carnahan McDonald, of Indiana county. The McDonalds, as their name indicates,
came from Scotland. John, the first American ancestor, was a son of John
and Isabella McCartney McDonald, who lived near Edinburgh, and a grandson
of John McDonald, a captain in the Scottish army. In 1772, John McDonald,
the grandson, when a young man, visited his relatives in Rich Hills, county
of Armagh, Ireland. While there a company was formed consisting of himself
and sixteen other young men, three of whom were his cousins, and they all
came to America, landing a t Baltimore. When the Revolutionary war broke
out John enlisted in Captain Casper Weitsell's company, First Battalion
Rifle Regiment from Pennsylvania. He rose to the rank of captain of the
flying Camp and served through the war. Before entering the army he was
married to Jane Wilson, and at its close settled on the lands which he had
taken up in York county, where they resided until his death more than twenty
years afterward. They had nine children, one of whom, James, born in 1779,
married Catharine Carnahan, and settled in Indiana county. He was a farmer
by occupation, and a Presbyterian in religion, though late in life he united
with the Methodist Episcopal church of which his family were already members.
He died April 20, 1852. They had a family of ten children: John, James,
Samuel, Alexander, Elizabeth, Mary , Jane, Nancy, Susan and Euphemia Bernetta,
the last of whom became the wife of John Hargnett, as above indicated..."
He [John Hargnett] died June 13, 1896. He was buried in the Valley cemetery.
His widow resides in Ligonier". [pg 123 Vol 2]

Robert Mack Sr., born in County Down, Ulster, emmigrated to the U.S. in 1803 with 4 children, one of whom was Robert Mack Jr. "The family settled in E. Wheatfield Twp., near Armagh on a 500 acre tract where eight more children were born..The other children were ...George (b. May 1818. d. 3 Oct 1891) m. Martha McDonald..."**
"...The paternal line goes to grandfather, Robert Mack Jr., b. Ulster c. 1799; d. 1854. He m. (1) Margaret McDonald, d/o Joseph McDonald. Their children were Joseph, Robert, Hugh...John, Margaret...Catherine...Mary....Elizabeth....Martha....After Margaret Mack's death, Robert m. ..." [and had additional children]
**[according to researcher Gerald Mack, this Martha McDonald was a daughter of Samuel McDonald]
