Philip Joden to Thomas Stockley and Joseph McDonald
"The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know ye, that in consideration of the moneys paid by Philip Joden for the warrant herein after mentioned and of the sum if 15 dollars and 40 cents in full lesie[?] paid by Thomas Stokely & Joseph McDonald unto the Treasury office of this Commonwealth and also in consideration of the said Joseph McDonald having made it appear that he made such actual settlement and continued residence on the herein after described tract of land as required by the 9th section of act passed the 3rd April 1792, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Thomas Stokely & Joseph McDonald a certain tract of land, situate in Cool Spring township, Mercer County, Beginning at a hickory thence by land of Michael Joden north 67 degrees east and 282 perches to a hickory, thence by land of Moses Jovsy[?] south three degrees east and 260 perches to a post, thence by land of Charles Joden south 87 degrees west 275 perches and 5 tenths to a post, thence by Donation Land, north 4degrees and a half west, 261 perches to the Beginning Containing 428 acres, 12 perches & allowc &cUcv [?], Which said tract of land was surveyed on the 22nd May 1795, in pursuance of a warrant dated the 21st April 1794, granted to the said Phillip Joden, who by deed dated the 10th June 1816 conveyed his rights in and to said warrant unto the said Thomas Stokely, who by an article dated the 25th day of April 1799 transfered 150 acres and allowance etc of said tract to the said Joseph McDonald by virtue of his improvement to be laid off at right angles across the tract, and also to include the improvements, agreeably[?] to the act of 30th March 1811. To have and to hold the said tract of parcel of land with the appurtances, unto the said Thomas Stokely & Joseph McDonald and their heirs to the use of them the said Thomas Stokely and Joseph McDonald their heirs and assigns forever Free and Clear of all restrictions and Reservations, as to mines, Royalties, Interests, or otherwise, Excepting and reservering only the fifth part of all Gold and Silver ore, for the use of this Commonwealth...In witness whereof John Cochran suriety of the Land office of the Commonwealth...the 31st day of March 1818...Entered in patent book H Vol. 15 pg 517. "...I, Allen Dunn Esq., high sheriff of the county of Mercer...on the 2nd of November...1819, by the judgment of the same court [...'Court of common pleas holden at Pittsburg for the county of Allegheny'...] did recover against Dr. Peter Mowrey, James Patterson and Mary Bedford Exetrs of the last will and testament of Nathaniel Bedford deceased, the sum of $173.96...debt, with interest form the 2nd of November A.D. 1819, as also the sum of $10 which to the said Philip Mowrey were adjudged in the same court for his costs and charges in said suit expended, And whereas by a writ..the 30th day of January...1823...I was commanded that of the goods...of the said Nathaniel Bedford dec'd in my bailiwick...to render to the said Philip Mowry for his debt...I seized...400 acres of land more or less situate in Shenango township bounded on the north by the lands of John Mitcheltree, on the west by the state line, on the south by lands of Joseph Everhart, and on the east by the lands of William Jackson, on which there are two cabbin houses, an orchard and about 70 acres of land cleared, the fences bad...the 27th day of April..1824..I was commanded that the lands...should expose to sale... I the said sheriff...did on the 20th day of May...1824...sold the same to John McDonald esquire of Pittsburg for the $310...he being the highest and best bidder...In Witness whereof I the said Allen Dunn...this 17th day of august...1824."

"...I Allen Dunn Esq., high sheriff...whereas William Earl in the county Court of Common Pleas holden at Pittsburg for the county of Allegheny...on the 17th of January ...1818 by the Judgment of the same court did recover against Nathaniel Gedford the sum of $325...etc....I seized and took in execution as the property of Nathaniel Bedford dec'd 300 acres of land in Shenango township bounded on the north by William Clingen, on the east by donation , on the south by John Anderson, and on the west by the state line. Also 400 acres of land in the same township bounded on the north by the line dividing the 3rd and 4th district known by Stokelys claim, East by Smith claim, south by donation land, and west by William G. Welsch Esqr. And also 400 acres of land in said township bounded on the north by Bowmans, on the east by land of John Doran, on the south by land of Dr. John Mitcheltree and on the west by the state line. Also 400 acres of land more or less in said township bounded on the north by land of Samuel Byers, on the west by Richard Vanfleet, and on the south by population land and ... on the 27th day of April ..1824..I was commanded that the lands...should expose to sale...on the 20th day of May...1824... sold the same to John McDonald Esquire of Pittsburgh for the sum of $78 he being the highest and best bidder, [for 1500 acres of land!] ...In witness... 17th day of August...1824."

"...I Allen Dunn...[James Adams vs. Dr. Peter Mowrey, James Patterson and Mary Bedford Exetrs of the last will and testament of Nathaniel Bedford, dec'd]...seized 400 acres...in Shenango township bounded on the north by land of William Haywood, on the west by the state line, on the south by land of James Mitcheltree, and on the east by land formerly in the name of John Thompson, also 200 acres more or less in said township now in the occupancy William G. Welsh Esqr bounded on the north by Stokely's claim, on the west by the Rev'd Slaterfield[?], on the south by Charles Caldwell, and on the east by land formerly claimed by Thomas Cannon Esq....on the 20th day of May...1824...sold the same to John McDonald Esquire of Pittsburg for the sum of $37 .. the said two tracts as above described containing 600 acres...In Witness...17th day of August...1824."

"...whereas by a certain ...Fieri Facias issued out of the Court of Common pleas for the county of Mercer...the 20th day of November 1824..he was commanded that of the goods..of John Doran late of this county in his bailiwick he should cause to be levied as well a certain debt of $500 ... which John McDonald lately in the same cauit[?] recovered against him as also $3 62/100 which to the said John McDonald were adjudged for his damages which he sustained by occasion of the detention of that debt and...whereas the said Sheriff ...seized and taken in execution a certain tract or parcel of land containing 400 acres...in Shenango township (then occupied) by Samuel Eaton and others bounded by Charles Caldwell on the south - Thomas Bingham on the east - Nathaniel Hawett[?] on the north and others which which remained in his hands unsold for want of buyers..and to the said sheriff directed he was commanded...he should expose to sale...on the 19th day of February 1829 expose the same ot sale by public vendue...sold the same to John McDonald of the City of Pittsburgh for the sum of $1005 he being the highest bidder...In witness whereof the said sheriff hath hereunto set his hand...the 20th day of February...1829..."

1877: Joseph D. McDonald - A.P/ Pew, shrff E-4-230 Hickory Twp.
"...Whereas a certain writ...issued out fo the Court of Common Pleas for the county of Mercer ...at Mercer the 15th day of June 1877 to the said Sheriff directed he has commanded that of the goods...of James Archibald late of this county in his bailiwick he should case to be levied as well a certain debt of $417.32 which Joseph McDonald lately in the said court recovered against him as also the sum of $75 which to the said plaintiff was adjudged forf the damages which he sustained by occasion of the detention of that debt and that he should have those moneys before the Judges of the said Court...the 2nd Monday of Aug then next to render to the said plaintiff for his debt and damages...And whereas...he had seized...a certain piece or parcel of land situate in Hickory township containing five acres more or less, bounded north by land of Joseph Whitehead, East by land of Snyder, South by land of Nicholas Haas, and West by a public road. Improvements 1 plank 1 story house 18 x 22 feet with kitchin attached 10 x 12 ft. one story high 1 frame house....And whereas the said sheriff...did on the 13th day of August 1877 expose the same by public vendue or outcry and sold the same to Joseph D. McDonald for the sum of two hundred and forty dollars his being the highest and best bidder..,
In witness whereof the said sheriff hath hereunto set his hand...the 13th day of August...1877.
Received the 13 day of August 1877 of the above named, Jos. D. McDonald the sum of two hundred and forty-seven dollars being the above mentioned consideration in full...recorded in the Sheriffs Deed Book No. 6 page 151. Recorded Feb. 15, 1879

"Know all men by these presents that We Duncan Mcdonald and Ellen McDonald his wife the Grantors for the consideraton of $1800 received to our full satisfaction of John Mcdonald the Grantor do give...the following described premises Situated in teh Township of Hickory...and bounded as follows: Bounded North by lands of Shawne[?], East by a public highway leading from Sharon to clarksville South by by lands of Hofius and Coran, West by lands of McDoal it beiong the same lands bought by said Duncan McDonald at various times and from various persons and containing in all nine acres of land. For a more particular description of said premises see Mercer County Record of deeds...
...And I the said Ellen Mcdonald wife of said Duncan McDonald do hereby sever, release,,,all my right and title of Dower in the above described premises...the 5th day of Jany...1888.
