This is me, Jim Digennaro, By day I work at the parts counter of Flynn Motors. Sellers of, Volkswagen-Audi-BMW-Mazda. (I really like my Job too!) I am a former editor of 'The Transporter', LiMBO's offical newsletter. I'm also on the board of directors and I keep the LiMBO web pages up and running. . I also host a LiMBO sponsored campout known as "Transporters By The Tunnel". My wife Barbra and I are also members of several VW clubs here in the Northeast, The HAMS club (New York based), New Hampshire VW club, Vacationland VW assoc. (Maine) and the CVA (Connecitcut). There are links to most of those clubs on the 'LiMBO LiNKS' page.. We are also members of the Good Sam Club and Scamp Owners International (SOI). Yep, real RV types.I bought my first car, 1971 Super Beetle, in College. What a great car. About a year later I found a 66 Westy and I was hooked on buses ever since. I've never lost my love for Beetles, buses are just more fun for camping. I also enjoy The Simpsons, Star Trek and Scamp Trailers .When I'm not camping in our Westfalia and Scamp Trailer or going to VW shows and swap meets, I occationally DJ.(of course I went to school to be a on-air personality, go figure how I ended up as a parts man.) Back in '96 something very cool happened to me. I was also invited to attend the VW meeting, 'Generations of Innovations Summit' CHICK HERE To read about it. My wife,Barbra and I have been married for 12 years and we have three kids,Derek, Angela and Dylan. Derek is on his second year of college. They are the best thing to happen to me since my first Beetle. My wife is a self proclaimed bitch, just ask her, she'll tell you. She is great for putting up with me and my obsession. The true VW widow. |
This was my 'GTi' bus. I bought it from Gordi Davis in the spring of 1995. It had a bad diesel engine in it and I did a diesel to gas conversion to it. Click Here To read about my experience with this conversion. In1998 Barb and I bought a house. So I had to sell the GTI bus for the downpayment. I sold it to LiMBO member Rob Cohen. I'm told by Rob's mechanic, he still has it and its running great!! This was 'The Turtle Van'. After several years of seaching to replace the one I sold in 1993, I found this one in 1999. To make a long story short after owning it for three years, a man made me an offer I couldn't refuse. So in May of 2002 we sold it and purchased, from Ron & Becky Maxon, 'The Euroturtle Van' a Bold Carribean Teal (one year only color) 1993 Eurovan MV weekender poptop that you see here.
![]() I enjoy the van, it has great power to tow the Scamp. I thought it would be great. But its not the same as a full Westy. We're getting along fine. However, that being said, should someone come across a nice late Vanagon Westy for sale, LET ME KNOW!! Engine condition not important, I have the parts to do another GTI conversion. But it must have a nice body!! This is my Scamp. In June of 2000, fellow member Nevin Lecsher, introduced me to the world of lite weight self contained travel trailers. Scamp in particular. We got a great used one in October of 2000. We're have a great time camping in it!I the fall of 2002, a man happen to the shop with a 1963 Beetle. He had been storing it for the last 5 years and wanted it checked over by our "old timer" who has been with Flynn VW since the days when VW only had Air-cooled cars. Turns out he has owned it for the past 20 years and was interested in selling it. I bet you can guess where that bug is now! Yup, your right, its sitting nicely in my garage next to the Scamp!! Its a real beauty! South Carolina car with no rust. It needs alittle TLC and it will be in great shape for summer driving! I'll post a photo when the weather gets better and I can move it out of the garage. Well, thats about everything about me. Check out the rest of the LiMBO site and Let me know what you think. |
