Who We Are

Thatcher's Sugarhouse has been in existence since 1906, when Charles Thatcher built a sugarhouse. His son, Floyd next used the sugarhouse. Then Floyd's son, Arthur used it. Now the sugarhouse is run by Arthur's son Dennis and his wife, Theresa. They are helped out by Dennis's brother, Charles and Theresa's brother, Henry Snape, Jr. The original sugarhouse built in 1906, located at the Family Dairy Farm, was retired in 2000.

A new Sugarhouse was built in 2000 and in located at 12 Broom Street. The new Sugarhouse was built to be more accessible to the public.

The sugar house is located in Plainfield, Massachusetts. Plainfield is set in the the foothills of the Berkshires and surrounded by farmlands, natural forests, and scenic beauty.
